Install DPOD Light Edition

The Developer (light) Edition's aim is to assist the Technical presale. It is geared towards the DataPower developer that wants to run DPOD on their Development Workstation, in the context of limited functionality Proof Of Concept. This installation will not allow multi-node configuration and is not planned to support performance of more than 2-3 TPS.

What are the major differences?

The Developer Edition is identical to the GA Edition and has all of its components. It differs in the following aspects:

  • Less Hardware & Software requirements
  • Limited configuration
  • One extra post installation step

How to Identify a Light Edition installation?

The following can be used to identify a Developer edition:

  • The ISO filename should be IBM_DataPower_OpDashboard_Light<version>.iso
  • The CentOS installation screen will show Developer Edition
  • A single configuration setup for development that exists only in the Development ISO file.

(2) Local SSD preferred - should be located on a datastore separate to the other disks

(3) Best query performance is achieved by using reserved memory configuration

Limited Configuration

The Developer Edition allows only limited configuration. This means only a single type of architecture configuration file that provides a single DPOD node architecture and 1-2 agents only for WS-M and syslogs.

You will need to choose it in the Software Deployment section in the product documentation.

One Extra installation step

When following the steps listed in the Software Deployment section of the product documentation, you are required to perform an additional step (step #9 in the list)
to configure the system to minimize resource consumption:

  • Run the following script to complete the development environment installation (Run This script only once!)
  •  You will be prompt to approve the script invocation
            /installs/dev-tools/setup-dev-env.sh

  • Press "y" only if it is the first run after successful finish of step 6.
  • When it is done, you should see the following output:

  • Errors are logged to the script log file, displayed at the end of the installation process.
  • In case of an error - do not try to run the script again and consult with IBM support.

  • No labels
