DPOD's web user interface requires the following for administrating and end users:
DPOD can be installed both a Virtualized Environment (Hypervisors) or Physical server (Intel(C) Based CPUs and supporting CentOS 6.x OS). consult the following table for decision.
For production environment that suitable for hypervisor (virtual environment) The virtual appliance is supported on the following VMware hypervisors:
DPOD offers 5 basic configuration setups for All-In-One (AIO) Edition: TODO hk - do we need to say this here?- we need to have to ISOs
The table below lists the typical usage characteristics of each edition, and the physical or virtual resources it requires.
Load Type | Goal | TPS Limits recommended | Supports Virtual Env | Cores (1) | Memory (3) | Storage (GB) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Developer | To support evaluation, POCs and DPOD development | 5 | Yes | 2 | 4.5 GB | OS: 9 |
Low | Environment with low load levels | 40 | Yes | 6 | 48 GB | OS: 40 |
Medium | Environment with Moderate load | 80 | Yes | 8 | 128 GB | OS: 40 |
High | Environment with High load | 120 | Yes, but not recommend | 12 | 176 GB | OS: 40 |
High_20dv | Environment with High load with ~ 20 physical appliance | 200 | No. required to be install on a physical server | 20 | 192GB | OS: 40 |
(1) These could be cores on an 80% utilized ESXi
(2) Local SSD preferred - should be located on a datastore separate to the other disks
(3) Best query performance is achieved by using reserved memory configuration
IBM DataPower Operations Center is also available to be installed as a custom distributed edition (not All-in-One) that allows installation on several servers located across separate geographical locations.
This normally requires creating a custom architecture based on a sizing process.
DPOD requires at least one network interface for accessing DPOD's User Interface and communications with DataPower Management Interface.

An SSH client to connect to DPOD appliance once installed. E.g http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html
A WinSCP-like software to upload/edit files in the appliance when required. For example: https://winscp.net/eng/download.php
