Remove Cell Member

Overview

  • This utility will detach a cell member from its cell environment and keep the rest of the cell environment functional, by reconfiguring the configuration database and removing the cell member's Store indices.

  • This utility can run regardless of the status of the cell member (online or offline).

  • The Store data that is kept on the removed cell member will be permanently lost.

  • You can add other cell members to the cell environment after removing a member.

Usage

  1. If the cell member server is online, stop all services on the cell member using app-util.sh or the cell member’s Admin Console.

  2. Check the cell member node name in UI Console → Topology → Manage → DPOD Nodes (e.g: N004).

  3. Run the following command from the cell manager CLI (root privileges are required):

    /app/scripts/remove_cell_member.sh -m <node name, e.g.: N004>
  4. If the cell member server is online, uninstall it (see Non-Appliance+Uninstall) or permanently shut it down.
