Install DPOD Light Edition

The Developer (light) Edition's  Edition's  (previously known as Light Edition) aim is to assist the Developer , Administrator and Technical presale to evaluate the product on a workstation environment .

It is geared towards the DataPower developer that wants to run DPOD on their Development Workstation, in the context of limited functionality Proof Of Concept. This installation will not allow multi-node configuration and is not planned to support performance of more than 2-3 TPS. 

The Developer  Edition's should NOT used for POCs. For POCs it is recommended to use at least the Standard Edition with minimum configuration load type.

The Developer Edition is not supporting  upgrades. Each new version requires reinstall the product.

What are the major differences?

The Developer Edition is identical to the GA Edition and has all of its components. It differs in the following aspects:

• Less Hardware & Software requirements
• Limited configuration
• One extra post installation step

How to Identify a

Developer Edition installation?

The following can be used to identify a Developer edition:

• The ISO filename should be IBM_DataPower_OpDashboard_DevDPOD-Developer-CentOS-<version>.iso and can be download from fix central.
• The CentOS installation screen will show Developer Edition
• A single configuration setup for development that exists only in the Development ISO file.

One Extra installation step

When following the steps listed in the Software Deployment section of the product documentation, you are required to perform an additional step (step #9 in the list)
to configure the system to minimize resource consumption:

• Run the following script to complete the development environment installation (Run This script only once!)
•  You will be prompt to approve the script invocation

            /installs/dev-tools/setup-dev-env.sh

• Press "y" only if it is the first run after successful finish of step 6.
• When it is done, you should see the following output:

• Errors are logged to the script log file, displayed at the end of the installation process.
• In case of an error - do not try to run the script again and consult with IBM support.
