Before You Begin

You will need toBefore you can add a new monitored device to DPOD, ensure to perform the following:

  1. Check routing and access from a monitored device:
    The DataPower Gatweay needs to route packets to DPOD Agents through the desired interface. Validate through [control panel->Troubleshooting->TCP Connection Test]
  2. Log In To DPOD Web Console

Device Level Configuration

Add The Device In DPOD

 

  1. Inside DPOD On DPOD's Web Console, open navigate to Monitored Devices  [Manage->Devices->Monitored Devices] and click on “Add Device”
  2. Enter the information required. (Detailed description can be found in Consult Device Management for details)
    Note that the device name must be identical to the System Identifier/Appliance Name of the DataPower Gateway as set in the The IDG and align with requirements itself, and meet the requirements in http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21668456.

  3. Click “Add”
  4. DPOD will add the device. (Verify by locating the device, and it will be added to new device in the list of monitored devices)

Configure The New Monitored Device

  1. Inside On DPOD's Web Console, open navigatre to the devices list page [Manage->Devices->Monitored Devices]
  2. Click the name of the device you added in the previous step
  3. Click "Setup” and wait for an informative green message at the top does this do? how is this now 'configured'? are the following sections 'inside'?

Setup Syslog For The New Monitored Device

  1. Under "Syslog Setup for Device", select the proper correct Syslog Agent ( according to the architecture design), click "Setup Syslog for device" and wait till until the action completes successfully.

Syslog setup for all domains

  1. Under "Syslog Setup for All Domains", select the proper Syslog correct Syslog Agent ( according to the architecture design), click "Setup Syslog for all domains" and wait till until the action completes successfully.Image Removedtodo change

Different domains Domains may be redirected to different Syslog agents according to the architecture design. If this is the case, please set up each domain separately as documented below

  • Under "WS-M Setup for Device", click "Setup WS-M for all domains" and wait till until the action completes successfully.
  • Note: You may choose to select which domains have elect to only enable WS-M enabledfor specific domains. If this is the case, please setup each domain separately as documented below.

Under "WS-M Subscriptions for All Domains", select the proper correct WS-M Agent ( according to the architecture design), click "Subscribe to WS-M for all domains” and wait till until the action completes successfully.

For each domain a A WS-M subscription will be created if one for each domain where one is not already created by DPOD.

For Consult System Parameters List for information regarding the time interval please read on the appropriate variable at System Parameters Listparameter.

Tip

This feature can be done on performed at a service or domain level.

This step will start recording payloads of transactions for a specific amount of time (currently 1 hour is the default configuration). You may run this later when you need payloads recorded. You may choose to record payload on for a specific domain. If this is the case, please subscribe on each domain separately as documented below.

Under "Extended Transaction Setup", click "Setup Extended Transaction for Device” and wait till until the action completes successfully.

Warning

This step will MODIFY SERVICES PROCESSING POLICY. You must test and make sure verify the services are not affected by this change before executing setting this up on production environments.

DOMAIN LEVEL CONFIGURATION

Configuring a specific domain (Optional)

  1. Navigate to the domain setup page  [Manage→ Devices→ Monitored Devices]
  2. Click the name of the device
  3. Click the name of the domain
  4. Click "Setup”
     
Tip

Different domains may be redirected to different Syslog agents according to the architecture design. Also, you may choose to enable WS-M on specific domains only etc. If this is the case, follow the

following

steps below to configure specific domains.
