The Developer Edition 's (previously known as the Light Edition) aim is to assist assists the developer, administrator and technical presale staff to evaluate the product by running a functionally limited edition of DPOD on a workstation environment.It is geared towards the DataPower developer that wants to run DPOD on their development workstation, in the context of limited functionality Proof Of Concept.

The Developer Edition should NOT be used is not recommended for customer POCs. For customer POCs it is recommended to use at least , due to its limited functionality. Instead, use the Standard Edition with the Minimal deployment profile.The Developer Edition does not support any upgrades. Each new version requires a full reinstall of the product.or Low deployment profiles.

How to Identify a Developer Edition installation?

The following can be used to identify a Developer Edition:

  • The ISO filename should be DPOD-Developer-CentOS-<version>.iso and can be downloaded from Fix Central.
  • The CentOS installation screen will show Developer Edition.
  • A single configuration setup for development that exists only in the Development ISO file.

  • Lower hardware & software requirements (see Hardware and Software Requirements):

  • The functionality is limited:

The Developer Edition allows only limited configuration. This means:

  • A single deployment profile
  • 1 WS-M agent
  • 1 Syslog agent
    • request an extension of the license.

    • Limited amount of data collected.

  • No support for upgrades / fixpacks

    The Developer Edition does not support upgrading and it does not get any fix packs.
    To upgrade to a newer version, a full re-installation of the product is required.

Installation steps:

  • Download the ISO file from Fix Central (file name is DPOD_Developer_Edition_Appliance_<VERSION>.iso)

  • Verify your system requirements, choose the development deployment profile and make sure to allocate the required resources.

  • Prepare your network configuration.

  • Prepare your monitored devices.

  • Perform the Appliance Installation procedure.

  • Review the post installation tasks.
